evolution has a soundtrack

When I joined the Sims in 2021, I was tasked with getting a new generation of creative people to connect with our brand. By tapping our deep history with in-game music as a storytelling mechanic, we were able to move away from narration-heavy concepts in our game and expansion pack trailers, and into social-forward films that were both entertaining and creatively inspired.

spa day remix

We launched our first ever pack “refresh” with a fresh take on what a Spa Day could be, inspired by the incredible creative contributions of nail creator Ebonix whose designs were featured in our pack refresh, and–of course—the song of the times: Best Friend by brilliant besties Saweetie and Doja Cat.

the sound of love

For the launch of My Wedding Stories, we wanted to tell a love story that was true to the Sims inclusive DNA—and the fun chaos our game is known for. We challenged ourselves to tell a relationship-based story without dialogue, leaning into a Simlish version of the timeless wedding classic, “At Last.” The emotion and range of the song carried our “could only happen in the Sims” love story.

howl along to the beat

We launched Werewolves, one of our most highly requested lore packs to date, with the worldwide premiere of artist Jazz Alonso’s “Praying Mantis.” The trailer switches between the Simlish and English versions of the song to tell a story of transformation: from day to night in Moonwood Mill, and from Sim to werewolf for our protagonist, Lux.

passing notes

Nothing gets us nostalgic for our high school years quite like the soundtrack of our own teen angst. To launch the summer’s coming-of-age EP, we tapped the Simlish stylings of “Sad Disco” by Mxmtoon, who also starred in our late night infomercial-inspired Simfomercial campaign.

rockin babies

Our Sims sure do grow up fast! In honor of all the familial milestones that came with our latest EP, Growing Together, we went nostalgic for the soundtrack with a sweet Simlish cover of the Faces’ sentimental hit, “Ooh La La.”

honky tonk hero

For our much anticipated Horse Ranch EP, we brought a modern twist to life on the ranch with new age country crooner, Breland, and a Simlish version of his summer hit, “Country Girl,” which was also featured on Sims Sessions.

rent free in your head

Explore your landlord fantasies in TS4’s latest EP, For Rent. Inspired by South Asian cultures, we introduced the sweetness—and the spicy drama of multi-unit living with the Simlish stylings of Thai rapper, OG Bobby’s buzzy hit, “Bong.”
